We called a couple of local farm stores today. At one the price of a 1t bulker bag of urea was $1200 previously but they were out of stock with no idea when any more would come in. The other just got a shipment but didn’t get back to us on any prices, likely it was all pre-sold.
Then on NSW Country Hour we heard that urea factories in the middle east have closed production, not to mention the Straight of Hormuz being closed so none can get out, and the cost of crude oil increasing. 69% of Australia’s urea comes from there folks.
Is it time to invest in reinstating the natural cycling of nitrogen?
Obviously we have always thought so, but now it will likely become the economic reality for many Aussie farmers. It can be done, and we will be better for it.
There’s more to come, but any initial questions or comments?
